“Brothers in Life Brothers in
Christ” October 31, 2004 marked a
milestone for the Newman Brothers. After many years of sporadic
performances and wishing that we had a recorded project, we made the
commitment to accomplish this. Family, employment and geographic
challenges changed in such a way to facilitate this long overdue CD.
Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church in Osseo Wisconsin was the venue for
our first sales. We performed two services that Sunday. The Sanctuary
was filled for both services. Response from both services and CD Sales
exceeded our expectations.
Upgrade in Performances
The success of the reunion of “The Newman Brothers” has been largely
based upon overcoming many obstacles. One of the biggest obstacles has
been the geographic distances between each of us. We are at least 2–3
hours away from each other. As the four of us made the recommitment to
spread The Word of God through our music, the most efficient way to
overcome this obstacle and return to the live scene was to concentrate
on our vocals. By laying down the instrumental tracks ahead of time we
were able to minimize the number of variables while maximizing our
time and efforts in rehearsal, setup and sound check time frames.
Bringing the instruments back into the live arena has intentionally
been slow because of this reason. While we do play all the instruments
that you hear on Brothers in Life Brothers in Christ, we are
working on bringing them back into the live scene as well. Keep in
mind; our main objective has always been to let the Glory of God’s
word speak through the music & lyrics of our songs. This will remain
the same. In other words, the talents that God has given us are never
meant to over shadow God’s word.
Now Accepting Dates October
2004 proved to be a challenging time of year to release a project like
this. Inherent issues of individual schedules during the holiday
season made forward momentum regarding performances and CD sales very
difficult. Now that the holidays are behind us, we are actively
accepting dates for services and performances throughout the year of
2005. Please contact us via this web site regarding future
engagements. As our calendar fills, look to the web site for tour
dates!
Overview
In the early history of The
Newman Family, there were five boys. Christopher (the youngest)
was called home to be with God in 1993.
As each of us grew up, we naturally took somewhat different yet
similar paths. As “singing brothers”, we took a hiatus as we each
married and raised our families. After many years of struggling with
geographic barriers and employment hurdles, we have recommitted our
beliefs in our Christian upbringing. We do believe that God has given
us these talents for a very specific reason; to sing God’s praises and
spread the word of Jesus Christ through our music. Brothers In
Life Brothers In Christ is one example of our recommitment to
our Christian beliefs.
While recording Brothers In Life Brothers In Christ, we have
been singing in churches and other Christian events around Wisconsin
and Minnesota. Family values through a Christ driven message has
always been a strong thread in our mission. Congregational
participation is always encouraged.
Our prayer is to be able to spread The Word to all who will listen; to
let all people know that God is alive, not only in the Old and New
Testaments, but in our modern, daily lives as well. All we have to do
is open our hearts and listen. Additionally, we pray that our
listening skills are keen enough to hear the words of God as we are
directed into the future. |
